FISH & PETS

I ran a store across the street from the 1990's called PG Tropicals. Currently we're adding aquariums for tropical fish and goldfish into the back. We're not interested in selling hundreds of fish a week mass market style. The goal is simply to provide healthy options that will get children in the door so we can get a few more of them reading thru exposure when they come to see the fish.

ALL FISH SALES ARE AS IS!! No implied warrantys. We have no way of knowing what you're doing with them when they leave or what conditions they will be expossed to. Fish we get from our wholsalers should never be purchased for a week or more after arrival to increase the odds of you getting heathy stock. It takes time to identify which fish are and to give all of them time to recover from being shipped around the world, over crowded, starved and rough handled. The dates of all fish arrival can be viewed. We're also breeding an enormous number of fish that have never been expossed to external shipping, diseases and stresses. If you aren't sure what you're doing, we'll be happy to help you figure things out. New tanks in particular can take 30 to 60 days just to get the bacteria bed established and only one product on the market can even legally have the correct bacteria in it since he holds the patent. The hobby itself thrives on having a bottle of something to sell you for every problem. Most of the time, there are free or cheaper alternatives including things as simple as quarantining new fish yourself to keep them from expossing your other fish to new diseases.

If you don't know what you're doing, we're here to help you avoid the most common pot holes in the road. The fish are in the back of the store so under some situations, there may be a short delay before they can be viewed. There may be wet floors, empty fish bags to slip on, no lights on, excessive customer traffic or delivery trucks parked out front bringing in more inventory in 60 to 120 seconds we have to receive.

Aquariums can be fun, educational and rewarding. Most aquariums, if you just change 25% of the water once a week with a gravel vacuum and don't run the lights excessively, will be mostly problem free. No matter what type of water you have, it's generally best to let the fish adapt to what you have instead of bouncing numbers around all the time trying to chase some percieved perfection their great grandparents in the wild may have known. Most filters are designed to make you repeat customers. They do not prevent the need for water changes, just increase the duration that go betweeen them or increase the stocking levels possible. Most cartridge type filters can be rinsed until they fall apart after years. If you don't understand the nitrogen cycle we'll be happy to explain it. There's also a million articles online about different variations of fishless cycling. you do not have to have fish to get an aquarium or pond established, just an ammonia source. At the very least select hardier types that can tolerate some abuse like bettas and goldfish to start.

Bring the kids!! If all you want is to impress someone with your 1,000 gallon saltwater masterpiece, there are other stores that can handle your needs. We just want to make a few kids happier.

Aqarium supplies in stock and the selection is growing.
